Why does our eyesight naturally deteriorate as we age?

Almost everyone will begin to experience difficulty with their vision in their forties. It is a perfectly natural condition that occurs through the gradual loss of flexibility in the lens inside the eye and is known as presbyopia.

When we are children the lens is exceptionally flexible, letting us to change focus instantly without strain. However as we grow older it loses this elasticity and we start to find it harder to focus.

This is very common and we may first notice it when doing close work or quickly looking from one distance to another. Finding yourself reading the newspaper at arms length or struggling to see the action at the far end of all sports field along with headaches and eye strain are all signs that your eyes require a little help sooner rather than later.

ICAPS® - Dietary Supplement

Maintains Healthy Vision

Dietary Supplement Benefits:

ICAPS® Dietary Supplements are the only major ocular vitamins with time-released tablets. These unique time-released tablets dissolve gradually, thereby contributing to greater absorption by the body and less stomach upset (which is common when taking high-potency vitamins and minerals, such as zinc).

Zinc is an essential nutrient for healthy eyes. While other vitamins may contain this important ingredient, ICAPS® Lutein & Zeaxanthin Formula features zinc in the form of zinc acetate, which is the most easily absorbed by your body.

ICAPS® Lutein & Zeaxanthin Formula contains lutein and zeaxanthin, the primary carotenoids proven to be in the retina and lens of the eye, identified to be important for eye health.

Easily Absorbed: Now you don't have to eat overwhelming amounts of vegetables to promote healthy eyes. ICAPS® has proven clinical serum biovalability, ie. absorption into bloodstream, showing equivalence to 4 servings of vegetables and fruit per day.

Macular Degeneration

Macular degeneration is a disease of a portion of the retina responsible for central vision. It is most common in people past age 60. It tends to run in families and is usually gradual, but certain types can occur suddenly. See ICAPS supplement article above.

Cataracts

Cataracts are a clouding of the lens inside the eye. They cause a general blurring of vision. They are most common over age 60, but can occur at any age.

Diabetic Retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy is a disease of the retina which occurs in people with diabetes. New blood vessels grow in the retina and these blood vessels tend to be leaky. If left untreated, the patient can be rendered blind. Early treatment is crucial and thus an annual eye examination is essential.
